Franz-Michael Deimling, born in 1953, was music school director for more than 40 years, is deputy chairman of the state association of music schools in Schleswig-Holstein, has been composing since his studies in Münster in 1978, and more than 500 of his works are now listed with GEMA. The spectrum ranges from solo works to orchestral works with solo instrument (e. g. the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra published by Verlag Neue Musik) and also includes "unusual" instruments and instrumentations such as carillon or harp orchestra.
The 12 piano pieces in minor keys are a collection of moderately difficult piano pieces for four hands. Beginning with A minor, they gradually move through all 12 minor keys with increasing numbers of accidentals. Each piano piece has a different character. The French title names are intended to help set the appropriate mood. The selection of time signatures (from 3/4 and 4/4 time to 5/8, 7/8, 8/8, 9/8, and 10/8 time) is broad.
This piano pieces should help to remove the fear of piano pieces with "too many" accidentals and unfamiliar time signatures, and in the process open a door to the world of versatility and colorfulness of music.
