Overture In the Tatra Mountains op. 27 is an orchestral work written during the composer's studies in Paris. Although it is a programmatic work, it does not have a literary prototype, nor does it directly draw its themes from Podhale folk music. With the title, Zelenski only suggests the moods he included in the score and the experiences gathered during student holidays spent in the mountains. The arrangement for four hands presented in the edition is an original arrangement by the author. The composer, by reducing the texture, managed to maintain the transparency and clarity of the work's sound.
