Felix Janosa is known to most children and parents in Germany as the composer of the Ritter Rost musicals. Although he studied school music and composition at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, he never went to school as a music teacher, instead becoming a freelance composer, music cabaret artist, jazz pianist and music education author.
